Group coaching is a dynamic form of coaching that involves two or
more people with a common business interest, similar goal or focus.
Each group member contributes to the richness of the coaching experience.
Group coaching has several benefits:
- Encouragement and objectivity by people who have no vested
interest in what paths other members choose (no hidden agendas
and typically far more objective than colleagues, family or friends)
- Broadens members’ view of the world, business issue or
life through the shared insight, unique perspectives and varied
experiences of group members Affordability
- Promotes a sense of “I’m not the only one who…”
– members encourage and congratulate each other and share
a common bond
- Increases commitment by each group member who has agreed to
“report back” progress or barriers to the group
- Enhances the sense that success is possible – one person’s
success energizes the entire group
- Business contacts and friendships are made between people who
may have similar or diverse standpoints but who appreciate each
other’s talents and perspectives
- Creates an opportunity to “try on” new approaches
and ideas in a supportive environment
- Everyone grows – including the coach
A group may be formed based on any interest, stage of life or business
issue and might include:
- New business owners
- Sales people
- People interested in developing a specific skill or in managing
a specific business situation
- People in transition or between jobs
- Executives who are seeking balance between their business and
personal lives
- New managers adjusting to new roles
- Divorced and widowed people adjusting to a new life
Groups of 3-6 people typically meet 3-4 times a month over the
phone for an hour. Members are encouraged to speak with one another
between calls to help one another maintain momentum.
